Prerequisites 

The following prerequisites must be met prior to setting up the Mollie gateway with your Chargebee site:

  • Ensure a valid website profile is created on your Mollie account. Read more here .
  • The card payment option must be enabled on your Mollie account to ensure that the same is enabled upon integration with Chargebee.

Limitations 

The following limitations apply to the Mollie gateway integration with Chargebee:

  • The Mollie website profile cannot be changed upon configuration and additional profiles must be set up independently.
  • Only payment methods that are configured on your Mollie site can be set up on your Chargebee site.
  • The test site and live site must be configured independently. Hence, configurations or data in a test site will not be available in the live site and vice-versa.
  • Card payments cannot be processed without 3D Secure authentication.

Configure Mollie Payment Gateway 

Follow the steps below to complete configuring your Mollie payment gateway with Chargebee:

  1. Login to your Chargebee  site.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Configure Chargebee > Payment Gateways.

  3. Click Add Gateway.

  4. Click Mollie from the list of gateways.

  5. Click Connect to an existing account to complete connecting to your Mollie account.
    Note: Click Create Account if you don't have an existing Mollie Account.

  6. Select the applicable website profile from the drop-down list and click Proceed.
    Note: If you want to use multiple website profiles of Mollie in Chargebee, then you must set up additional mollie gateway connections for each profile.

  7. The Mollie gateway is now connected to your Chargebee site with Cards enabled provided this payment method is active on your Mollie gateway too.

  8. Click Manage to configure the following:

    • Allow Prepaid Cards: Toggle-on this option if you wish to enable payment processed with prepaid cards.
    • Always retain card information in Mollie when customer updates it: Toggle-on if you wish to save customer card information on Mollie.
  9. Make applicable updates and click Save to complete your changes.

  10. Enable other payment methods including Direct Debit via SEPA and iDEAL as required.
    Note: This must be limited to payment options that are enabled on your connected Mollie profile.

  11. Configure your settings to display Direct Debit payment method availability to all customers or a limited set of customers.

  12. Review your Smart Routing settings to update gateway preferences to payment methods.

  13. Configure the First and Last Name as Mandatory fields for card payments.

Webhook Configurations 

You are not required to manually set up webhooks for your Mollie gateway. This is an automated process that is completed at the back end.

Your Mollie payment gateway is now set up on your Chargebee site and is available for customers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) 

1) I have multiple website profiles set up in Mollie, can these be connected to my Chargebee site?
Yes, you can connect multiple Mollie website profiles. However, each of these website profiles must be connected as independent payments gateways with your Chargebee site.

2) Are all payments processed synchronously while using this payment gateway?
No, only card payments are processed synchronously. Direct Debit and iDEAL payments are processed asynchronously.

3) How does Chargebee handle recurring payments for the iDEAL payment method?
In the case of customers using the iDEAL payment methods, only the initial payments are processed via iDEAL. Post this, all recurring payments are processed via SEPA Direct Debit.
